Pharmacological properties:
"Levomecol" ointment is characterized by antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory (dehydrating) action. It is active against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms-staphylococci, blue-green and intestinal sticks. The drug easily penetrates deep into tissues without irritating biological membranes. In the presence of pus and necrotic tissue, the antibacterial action of the drug is maintained.
The dehydrating effect of polyethylene glycol in the drug is ten times greater than the effect of hypertonic sodium chloride solution.
Indications:
"Levomecol" ointment is used for topical treatment of purulent wounds, infected mixed flora (including staphylococci, blue-green and intestinal sticks), wounds of the first (purulent-necrotic) phase.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to levomycetin.
Method of administration and dosage:
"Levomecol" ointment is used to soak a sterile Dolbandi, which fills the wound after its standard treatment (mechanical removal of necrotic tissue, treatment of the wound with hydrogen peroxide solution). It is possible to inject the drug into the purulent cavities with a syringe (drainage tube) through a syringe. In these cases, it is necessary to heat "Levomecol" to 35-36 ° C. Bandages are applied daily from the purulent-necrotic mass until the wound is completely cleansed.
Side effects:
An allergic reaction in the form of a skin rash associated with hypersensitivity to levomycetin.
In this case, it is necessary to stop using the drug and carry out the desensitizing treatment.
