Composition
Vaginal suppositories: 1 suppository contains:
Active ingredient: Natamycin 100 mg.
Excipients: cetyl alcohol 690 mg, solid fat 700 mg, sorbitol 460 mg, polysorbate 80-460 mg, sodium carbonate hydrate 69 mg, adipic acid 64 mg.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
PHARMACODYNAMICS
Polyol antibiotic of the macrolide group, characterized by a broad spectrum of action, exhibits fungicidal action. Natamycin binds sterols to cell membranes and causes the death of microorganisms by disrupting their integrity and function. Most pathogenic yeast fungi are susceptible to natamycin. Especially Candida albicans. Less sensitive to dermatophytes. Natamycin resistance is not found in clinical practice.
Pharmacokinetics
Natamycin does not exhibit systemic action because it is practically not absorbed through the skin surface and mucous membranes.
Indications
Vaginitis, vulvitis, vulvovaginitis, balanoposthitis, mainly caused by Candida fungi.
Dosage and administration
In case of vaginitis, vulvitis, vulvovaginitis appoint 1 vaginal suppository for 3-6 days. The candle is inserted into the uterus, lying down as deeply as possible, once a day before bedtime. In case of persistent course of albinitis-induced vaginitis, pimafucin tablets are additionally prescribed to be taken orally (1 tablet 4 times a day for 10-20 days) to cure foci of candidal infection in the intestines.
Pimafucin cream is used to treat candidal lesions of the partner genitals. The duration of the course is determined individually. After the disappearance of the symptoms of the disease, it is recommended to continue the course for a few more days
Side effects
Local reactions: Possible slight irritation, burning sensation.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
Pregnancy and lactation
Pimafucin can be used during pregnancy and lactation.
Special instructions
Vaginal suppositories open rapidly under the influence of body temperature and form a foamy mass, which promotes an even distribution of the active substance.
Cetyl alcohol, which is included in vaginal suppositories, can cause a burning sensation in the genital area due to hypersensitivity to a given component. Treatment with suppositories during menstruation is discontinued. It is not necessary to discontinue sexual intercourse during treatment with suppositories, however, it is recommended to examine the sexual partner and take a course of treatment with pimafucin in case of candidal lesions. The use of barrier contraceptives is also required during treatment.
Overdose
Cases of drug overdose have not been reported.
Interaction
With other medicinal products, the interaction of pimafucin with other medicinal products has not been described.
Storage conditions: Store at a temperature of 15-25°C, out of reach of children.
Shelf life: 2 years.
